How Tremendous Payout Holds Work (and What To Do About Them)

Why Tremendous sometimes holds or flags a payout for fraud review, and what merchants (and ambassadors) should do about it.

Written by Shelby Baldwin

Buzzbassador integrates with Tremendous, a third-party payout processor, to let merchants pay ambassadors via PayPal, gift cards, bank transfer, and other redemption options. As part of processing payouts, Tremendous runs its own automated fraud-screening on transactions, which can occasionally hold or flag a specific reward for review before it pays out.

This is Tremendous's system, not Buzzbassador's

Fraud screening and payout holds are part of Tremendous's own risk and compliance process. Buzzbassador does not control when Tremendous flags a payout, how long a hold lasts, or why a specific transaction was selected for review. We don't have visibility into typical hold or review turnaround times either, that's something only Tremendous support can answer since it depends on their internal fraud-review process.

FOR MERCHANTS

What to do if a reward is held

  • Log into your own Tremendous account (not Buzzbassador) and look for the flagged transaction under your payouts or activity.

  • Review the details of the specific reward that's been held. If it looks legitimate, you can typically release it for payout from within your Tremendous account.

  • If you're not sure why a transaction was flagged, or you don't see an option to release it, reach out to Tremendous support directly: they have visibility into their own fraud rules that Buzzbassador does not.

If holds keep happening

If you're seeing repeated holds across multiple payouts, it may be worth contacting Tremendous support directly to understand why your account is triggering their review rules frequently. This is something only Tremendous can diagnose, since it relates to their internal fraud-detection system and how it's evaluating your account specifically.

If you're an ambassador: If a reward shows as held or delayed, this is often the reason. Only the brand's own Tremendous account can review and release a held payout: Buzzbassador support cannot do this on the brand's behalf. Contact the brand directly and ask them to check their Tremendous account for the hold.
