How to include Terms & Conditions in your member onboarding process

Note: We use "Program" and "Member" as label-agnostic terms to refer to any marketing you are using Buzzbassador to facilitate, whether you refer to it as an affiliate program, influencer marketing, ambassador program, referral program, creator partnerships, brand reps, partner program, etc.

During the onboarding process, you can add a custom question to your Application Form that will require the applicants to review and accept your brand's Terms and Conditions (we'll call it T&Cs, for short) prior to submitting their application for your program.

Because you will not be able to include all of the text content of the T&Cs within the application itself due to length restraints, you can simply include the URL link instead (i.e., hyperlink) to the T&C's page in the application form.

How To Add T&Cs To Your Form

1. Add written instructions (text element) to your form, and include a link to an external page or document with your program's T&Cs

2. Add a way for the members to agree to the terms, such as a checkbox, radio button, or text field element. This element should ask the applicant to confirm their agreement with the terms you linked above, by selecting or typing "I agree". Make sure the element is required to complete.

Here's how you can format your application form similar to one of the examples above:

  1. Add a section header - Add a sub-header by dragging and dropping the 'Header' element into the form editor, and then type your section title (Ex. "Terms and Conditions") in the 'Label' field.

  2. Add your T&Cs link and text instructions - Drag and drop the 'Paragraph' element. In the 'Content' field, type a statement like the following: "Please right-click and open the following link to the program's Terms and Conditions in a new tab or window: [the URL to your T&C here]"

  3. Add the confirmation/agreement element - Next, you will need to provide a required input field for your applicants to agree to your brand's Terms and Conditions. You can do this by using a checkbox, radio button, or text field element.

    4. Save your changes - Once your application form has been updated, make sure to save your changes!

To add a hyperlink in the application form editor:

Since you will not be able to hyperlink text within the editor, what some merchants will do is externally open a Word document or Google Doc and hyperlink their T&C link into text within that external document. From there, you'll be able to select and copy the completed hyperlinked text from that document and paste it over to the application form in Buzzbassador (i.e., directly into the 'Label' or 'Content' field of a text element). Pasting the hyperlink into the Buzzbassador form from an external source allows you to bypass the lack of a hyperlink feature within our form builder so that you can still link a URL to specific text.
