How To Uninstall Buzzbassador, Cancel Your Subscription, or Lower Your Subscription Cost

This article explains how to downgrade your subscription to the "Free" plan, or uninstall the app.

The Free plan

As of 2026, Buzzbassador has a free plan available, which can be an option if you're looking for subscription cost relief but don't want to permanently close your account. To downgrade to the free plan, just go to settings > subscription > change plan and select Free (Launch).

If you don't see the free plan as an option to downgrade to in your account, it's likely because you're on our legacy pricing structure (deprecated in 2025) which did not include a free option. Reach out to support and we can assist you in getting switched over to the new plan system where the free plan is available.

Cancelling your subscription

To cancel your Buzzbassador subscription entirely, all you need to do is uninstall the app from your Shopify store. This will alert Shopify that you no longer are an active user of Buzzbassador, and our billing will be removed from your Shopify bill for all future billing cycles.

Just go to Shopify > Apps > open Buzzbassador and click "uninstall app."

IMPORTANT: All data will be deleted

After 12 hours, your account data will be completely & permanently deleted in accordance with Shopify's data retention policies for Shopify apps. This means the following will no longer be saved or recoverable:

  • Sales & order history

  • Payouts (due or paid)

  • Members (email addresses, profile data

  • Attribution data (code & link names and usage history)

  • Account configuration (custom forms, landing pages, email designs, etc.)

  • Campaign history or submissions

  • Social listening activity

This is why we recommend downgrading to the Free plan rather than fully cancelling, as it allows you to retain your data. You can even pause your programs by disabling all codes and rewards to make sure you're not paying commissions or attributing affiliate sales.

If you do ultimately decide to cancel, we recommend that you export your data first:

  1. Members log - Navigate to Members and click export to get a CSV of your full member history (including order numbers attributed, code & link data, application & profile info, etc.)

  2. Order & rewards log - Navigate to Rewards, adjust the date picker to all time, and click export to get a CSV of your full order & reward history (attributed order numbers and totals, commission calculations and statuses, payment transaction ids, etc.)

That way if you are ready to come back to Buzzbassador, you can at least reimport your prior members.

You will NOT be able to reimport payouts - make sure all due payouts are handled before cancelling.

There is no way to save custom account configurations like settings, assets (forms, landing pages, emails, etc.) so you will have to rebuild those from scratch should you return to Buzzbassador. However, our team will be more than happy to help you re-set up those items.

IMPORTANT: Make sure to address your Buzzbassador codes in Shopify

When you uninstall the app, the codes created for your members are not deleted from Shopify and can still be used by customers. You will need to go into your Shopify discounts list and manually delete them. Just note your programs' discount titles, referral rule titles, and any link-related code titles (for BuzzLinks) and delete or deactivate them.

Can I pause my subscription

We are unable to pause subscriptions. Since Buzzbassador is an application within Shopify and billed through the Shopify billing API, our team does not have the ability to pause - the only way to pause our app would be to pause your whole Shopify store.

This is why we recommend downgrading to the Free plan as it allows you to retain your account and data while significantly lowering your subscription costs. To downgrade to the free plan, just go to settings > subscription > change plan and select Free (Launch).
