With Buzzbassador's PayPal Payouts Integration, you can pay members with just a few clicks. Below are instructions on how to connect your PayPal Payouts account to your Buzzbassador account.

Note: Our merchants typically have more ease paying members with our Tremendous integration. You may want to look into integrating Tremendous instead, or at least in addition to PayPal. Check out the Tremendous integration steps here.

Requirements to use PayPal Payouts:

  1. PayPal Payouts enabled for your PayPal account. (Please contact PayPal to ensure that Payouts has been enabled for your account. Not all PayPal Business accounts have this feature enabled automatically, especially if you are outside the U.S.)

  2. A PayPal balance that covers the amount of any due member commissions you have

Let's get started:

Step 1

Make sure you have a PayPal Business Account. If you do not, you can sign up for one by going to their website, and clicking the "Sign Up" button at the top right corner of the screen.

Step 2

Head over to Paypal's Developer portal and click "Log in to Dashboard" button at the top right of the screen.

Step 3

You need to verify that you have the Payouts API enabled. Unfortunately, this might take anywhere from a few hours to several days for PayPal to give you permission. Unfortunately, the Buzzbassador team doesn't have any control over this. However, applying for it is very easy! Here's how:

Once you are on the Developer Dashboard, navigate to your account name located at the upper right side of the page and click "My Account".

On that page, you will see a column called "Permissions"-- at the bottom of that column, you'll see the row labeled "Payouts". If there is not already a green check mark under the "Live" column of that "Payouts" row, you need to click the "Enable" link. This will send a request to PayPal to enable Payouts for your account.

Paypal will email you that they are reviewing your request. Once you've been accepted for Payouts, you'll notice a green check mark on the far-right of that "Payouts" row, signifying that the API is live.

Step 4

Click on the "Apps & Credentials". On that page, you will see a section called "REST API apps". There is a toggle button that allows you to switch between "Sandbox" or "Live". Make sure the "Live" button is selected.

Next, click the "Create App" button.

Step 5

In the "App Name" box, type in "Buzzbassador Member Payouts". Then click the "Create App" button.

Step 6

Click the eye icon beside the "Secret" field. Once the Client Secret is shown, please copy it into a secure password storer, like iCloud Keychain, 1Password, or a locked document. text editor.

Then, do the same for your Client ID.

You will need to paste both of those into your Buzzbassador account in the next section, so they are important to keep!

**Please note: The final step (Step 7) can only be completed after PayPal has approved your access of their Payouts API. If you have not yet been approved, we recommend following up with PayPal's support team.

Step 7

Now, for the final step: time to connect your PayPal Payouts to your Buzzbassador account!

Log in to your Buzzbassador Account. Navigate to Settings > Integrations > then click Connect beside PayPal Payouts. A pop-up will appear where you'll see two fields: PayPal Client ID and PayPal Client Secret.

Paste your PayPal Client ID and Client Secret from Step 6 into the correct fields. Then, click the "Update Credentials" button to save your changes!

And there you are - your Buzzbassador PayPal payout capability is all set up!

Quick Note:

In order for the PayPal Payouts integration to work correctly, you must have an active balance in your PayPal account that covers the amount of member commissions you owe. This is because the PayPal payouts integration is only authorized to pull commissions from your account balance; it can not pull funds from any linked cards or bank accounts. So, before you attempt to process payouts to your members, you must ensure that your PayPal balance can cover the amount.

As always, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out to us via email at [email protected], or through the chat bubble at the bottom right corner of your app window.
