What Is Content Tracking?

Content Tracking is how Buzzbassador automatically monitors Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok for posts that mention or tag your brand. When a creator publishes a post with your tracked hashtags or brand mentions, Buzzbassador detects it within 15 minutes and surfaces it in your Content Feed—no manual searching required.

This gives you a real-time feed of creators who are already talking about you, so you can engage them, invite them to your program, or link their posts to campaigns.

How It Works

Step 1. Connect Your Social Accounts

Before tracking can begin, you need to connect at least one social account to Buzzbassador. These are called your Connected Accounts and are the profiles Buzzbassador monitors to find brand mentions.

To connect an account, go to Social Listening > Integrations and follow the steps for your platform.

Step 2. Configure What to Track

In the Automations tab, open the Tracking Manager to tell Buzzbassador what to look for. You can track two types of signals:

  • Brand Mentions — Posts where a creator tags your account directly, such as @yourbrand in a caption.

  • Hashtags — Posts that include a specific hashtag you're monitoring, such as #yourbrandname or a campaign-specific tag.

You can add as many hashtags and mentions as you need, and target them across one platform or all connected platforms.

Step 3. Posts Are Detected Automatically

Once your accounts are connected and your tracking sources are configured, Buzzbassador scans for matching posts on a continuous basis. When a public post is found that matches one of your tracked hashtags or mentions, it is pulled into your Content Feed automatically.

Most posts are detected within 15 minutes of publication on Instagram and Facebook. TikTok timing varies slightly depending on your connection method.

Step 4. Review Posts in Your Content Feed

Every matched post appears in Social Listening > Content Feed. From there you can:

  • View the original post on the native platform

  • See the creator's profile, follower count, and engagement metrics

  • Invite the creator to your ambassador program

  • Send a DM or email using a saved template

  • Request usage rights for their content

  • Link the post to a campaign for submission tracking

  • Take bulk actions across multiple posts at once

Supported Platforms

Instagram

  • Connect directly via Instagram (recommended for DM support and Story tracking)

  • Or connect via your linked Facebook Page through Meta Business

  • Access tokens expire after 60 days — you'll be prompted to reconnect when this happens

Facebook

  • Connect your Facebook Page via a simple OAuth flow

  • Tracks posts where your Page is tagged or mentioned

  • Access tokens expire after 60 days

TikTok (COMING SOON)

TikTok offers two connection methods, and you can connect both at the same time for maximum coverage:

  • TikTok v.1 (QR Code) — Supports sending DMs, but requires reconnecting every 180 days. You'll receive email reminders ahead of the expiration.

  • TikTok v.2 (OAuth) — Provides better mention coverage and lasts 360 days, but does not support DMs.

Connecting both versions is recommended so you get the full benefit of DM capability and broader content detection.

Understanding Connection Status

Your connected accounts each display a status badge so you always know if tracking is working:

  • Active — Tracking is working normally.

  • Expiring Soon — Your connection is about to expire. Click Reconnect to avoid a gap in tracking.

  • Expired — Tracking has paused. Your historical data is preserved, but no new posts will be detected until you reconnect.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if a creator uses our hashtag but doesn't tag us?

As long as the hashtag is saved and active in your Tracking Manager, the post will be detected and added to your Content Feed regardless of whether your account is directly tagged.

Can I track posts from private accounts?

No. Buzzbassador can only access posts on public accounts. Posts from private accounts are not visible through the social platform APIs.

A post I know exists isn't showing up. What should I check?

A few things to verify:

  1. Confirm the post is from a public account

  2. Check that the relevant hashtag or mention is saved and set to Active in your Tracking Manager

  3. Make sure the platform connection shows an Active status, not Expired

  4. Allow up to 15 minutes from the time the post was published

What happens to my data if a connection expires?

All previously collected posts and creator data are preserved. Tracking simply pauses until you reconnect. Once reconnected, new posts will resume appearing automatically.

Can I connect more than one Instagram or Facebook account?

Yes. You can add multiple accounts across platforms. Each connected account is listed in your Integrations tab with its own individual status.

Tips for Getting the Most Out of Content Tracking

  • Set Up Tracking Before You Launch: Add your hashtags and brand mentions in the Tracking Manager before your first campaign goes live so you capture posts from day one.

  • Track Campaign-Specific Hashtags: For each campaign you run, add a unique hashtag to your Tracking Manager. This makes it easy to filter the Content Feed and find relevant posts.

  • Connect Both TikTok Versions: If TikTok is an important channel for you, connecting both v.1 and v.2 gives you DM capability alongside better detection coverage.

  • Reconnect Before Tokens Expire: When you see an Expiring Soon badge, reconnect right away. It only takes a minute and prevents any gaps in your tracking history.
