Note: We use "Program" and "Member" as label-agnostic terms to refer to any marketing you are using Buzzbassador to facilitate, whether you refer to it as an affiliate program, influencer marketing, ambassador program, referral program, creator partnerships, brand reps, partner program, etc.

One important aspect of managing a Buzzbassador merchant account is understanding programs, also known as tiers or program tiers. A program is a group of members within your account that are distinguished by their level of activity, status, or any other criteria you choose.

For more information on creating different programs and differentiating between them, check out this article here.

If you're looking for more information on how to create new programs and edit your existing programs, check out this article here.

This article is about what it means when one of your programs is set to "Default" program status. Each Buzzbassador merchant account must have one default program, and cannot have more than one default program.

To know which program is currently set to be your default program, look out for this purple badge:

What is a "Default" Program?

Your default program is the one that all members are assigned to by default unless they are manually assigned to a different tier.

For example, let's say you have the setting turned on to automatically accept every person who fills out your application form. In that case, all applicants would automatically be moved to your Default program. They would remain in that program until you manually moved them to a different program.

Typically, merchants set their most commonly used or lowest level "starter" program as Default, and that way most members can be added to that one, while the small number of outliers can be manually moved elsewhere.

Other things to note about Default programs:

  • Members can only be in one program at a time.

  • Your default program cannot be deleted as every merchant account must have at least one active program at all times.

  • In order to delete a program that is currently set as Default, you must create a new program and assign it to be your new Default program. You will then be able to delete the other program once it is no longer set to Default.

  • You can change which program is your Default program at any time.

How to change your Default program

Step 1: Click the "Make Default" button on the program you want to make your new Default program.

Step 2: Click "Confirm" on the pop-up

Now, the selected program will be updated to be Default.
